Attractive Personality

I’ve got another spiritual law for you this time: It’s called the law of attraction.

Technically there are two laws of attraction, but I’ll just start with one.

Spiritual negatives attract spiritual positives.

What this means is that when something negative happens to you spiritually, It attracts positive spiritual things. No, this is not some form of heresy involving evil spirits attracting God’s blessings. Let me explain.

When you fast, it creates a spiritual negative charge, because you are giving up your food to give the extra time to God. That spiritual negative charge then attracts spiritual positive charges. In other words, God blesses you when you fast. It’s the same way with all of the spiritual disciplines. Prayer, fasting, silence, solitude, abstinence, giving: They all create “negative charges.”

However, there is another side to this. Spiritual negative charges can be filled with physical positive charges. And once a negative charge is filled, it won’t be filled again.

What this means is, if you fast and you tell everyone about it so that they will hold you in high esteem, you just filled your negative charge with other people’s approval. There will be no blessing from God for that.

It explains why God did not bless the Pharisees when they fasted and gave to the poor and prayed; they were doing it so others would think they were “holy.”

So, when you fast, do as Jesus said in Matthew 6:16

“And when you fast, don’t make it obvious, as the hypocrites do, for they try to look miserable and disheveled so people will admire them for their fasting. I tell you the truth, that is the only reward they will ever get.”
